“The Wealth of Nations” and “The Theory of Moral Sentiments” are two aspects of Adam Smith’s thought, which together build a liberal order. The basic problem of the Wealth of Nations is the “invisible hand,” and the basic problem of the theory of moral sentiments is the “just spectator.” Both point to Scottish conservative philosophy and Christianity. Read the Wealth of Nations to be wary of pragmatism. When reading the theory of moral sentiments, avoid moral preaching. Smith’s model of the Trinity analysis is market, morality, and theology. The ultimate object of analysis is man. Adam Smith spent his whole life thinking about what kind of state a person is in in terms of market attributes, ethical attributes and belief order.

There is a sense of “fancy” happiness that pervades people, and it evolves into a certain kind of external self-confidence. John Mill quipped almost 150 years ago: “Better be a disaffected man than a satisfied swine; rather a disaffected Socrates than a satisfied fool; and if a fool or a swine has a contrary opinion, then It’s because they only see their own side of the problem.”

People cannot obtain truth through objectivity, only be presented through subjectivity. The pursuit of truth as objective knowledge in traditional philosophy is the biggest mistake. Over the years, materialism, the relationship between subjective and objective, dialectical materialism, historical materialism, have turned our poor brains into trash cans, so that we cannot understand the subjective revelation of truth and methodological subjectivism at all.

Emotional people are usually walking dead, and pleasure is their goal. Rational people know that the world is made up of suffering, and human nature is full of powerlessness and ignorance. Through rationalist discussion, Augustine’s thought was able to stand as the most striking landscape of human thought. Through the construction of rationalism, one obtains the leap of faith and finally transcends the level of despair of sensibility and reason. This sense that a person who has never thought deeply about rationalism to establish true belief.

Whether in body or soul, life has nothing, Just despair. Faith is the way to escape exclusively. Apart from partial person sees life that way.
